Official Import Rules
Sri Lanka requires an ISO microchip, rabies vaccination (at least 30 days old), and an import permit from DAPH (Department of Animal Production & Health) — Official Sri Lanka government sources state the import permit must be obtained at least 2 weeks prior to the date of export/travel. The permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issue..
A government-endorsed veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel is required.
FVRCP vaccination recommended. The 30-day quarantine is served at the owner's own premises (home quarantine), not at a government facility. On arrival at Katunayake/Bandaranaike Airport, cats are inspected by quarantine officials and the owner must sign a Quarantine Surveillance Agreement providing their full address and contact details.
The animal is then released to the owner to complete the 30-day quarantine period at that home address. This is mandated under Section 28 of the Animal Diseases Act No. 59 of 1992.
