City & Housing Tips
Malé is the only real urban centre. The Maldives is primarily a resort destination — most resorts do NOT allow personal pets. Bringing a cat is only practical if you're relocating to live on Malé or a residential island. Vet care is extremely limited.
Vets & Common Parasites
Very limited vet care. Malé has one or two basic clinics. No specialist or emergency vet facilities. For serious medical issues, evacuation to Sri Lanka or India is the only option. Bring a comprehensive first-aid kit and stock of medications.

The rabies titer test for Maldives takes time — blood must be drawn at least 30 days after vaccination, and lab results take 2–3 weeks. Don't leave this to the last minute.
Given Maldives's complex import process, many relocators recommend hiring a licensed pet transport agent.
