Cat Notes

Cats must be on a leash or in a carrier at all times outside the vehicle. In the Pet Den, cats must remain in a carrier. In pet-friendly cabins on Dublin–Cherbourg (18 hours), cats can enjoy cabin space with outdoor deck access. Check in 90 mins early (Dover) or 2 hours early (Dublin–Cherbourg) for pet passport processing.

Booking

Add pets at time of booking for availability of Pet Den, cabins, and kennels. Summer sailings book up quickly for pet facilities.

Pro Tip

For the long Dublin–Cherbourg crossing (18 hours), a pet-friendly cabin on Isle of Inisheer is strongly recommended — your cat stays with you with outdoor deck access. For short Irish Sea crossings, the free kennels or Pet Den work well. Irish Ferries' Pet Den facilities have been praised by veterinarians as among the best at sea.

Restrictions

Foot passengers cannot bring pets on most routes. Pets not allowed in restaurants, lounges, or general public areas. All pets require EU Pet Passport or GB Animal Health Certificate, microchip, rabies vaccination. Dogs need tapeworm treatment for UK entry.
