Official Import Rules

The Democratic Republic of the Congo requires an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture veterinary services, a valid rabies vaccination certificate administered at least 30 days before travel, a veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of departure endorsed by your government veterinary authority, and microchip identification. Documents should be in French.

Due to the complex political and security situation, enforcement varies by region. Contact the DRC embassy for current requirements.

City & Housing Tips

Kinshasa is the capital and primary expat hub. Lubumbashi is the second-largest city with a mining-focused expat community. Goma in the east has humanitarian organization presence. Veterinary services are very limited throughout.
