Department of Livestock Development (DLD) Quarantine
About This Facility
Thailand's Department of Livestock Development (DLD) oversees all pet imports through Bangkok.
Requirements include an import permit (apply 15+ days in advance), rabies vaccination, health certificate endorsed by the origin country's government vet, and a DLD-issued import permit.
Thailand does not have mandatory quarantine for cats with complete documentation.
Physical Arrival Directions
The DLD quarantine office is in the cargo area of Suvarnabhumi.
Accompanied pets (cabin/checked) clear at the customs area in the arrivals hall.
Cargo pets are collected from the freight terminal with DLD clearance.
Practical Tips & What to Expect
Apply for the Thai import permit at least 15 days before arrival through the nearest Thai embassy/consulate or the DLD directly. Health certificate must be issued within 5 days of departure.
Thailand's climate is extremely hot — avoid cargo transit March–May if possible. Bangkok has many international-standard veterinary hospitals.
