Cat Policy Overview

Hainan Airlines appears in China-route data and publishes checked-pet guidance for domesticated animals, including cats, on eligible self-operated routes. Ordinary international cat travel should be treated as checked hold transport unless Hainan specifically confirms a limited cabin-pet product for the exact route.

Before Booking

For international or Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan routes, request checked-pet transport at least 48 hours before departure. Ask whether the flight is self-operated, whether the aircraft type can carry pets, whether the route has airport limitations, and whether a connection requires reclaiming and re-checking the animal.

Route Intelligence Note

Hainan can be route-relevant on direct China services from Europe, North America and Japan. Its policy card gives travellers a concrete official-policy starting point without implying that every Hainan route accepts cats.

Restrictions

No through interline pet service. Hainan checked-pet guidance says pets on connecting itineraries can only be handled by direct segment and must be reclaimed and checked again at the stopover. Some aircraft types and airports may not accept small animals. Limited cabin-pet pages are route-specific and should not be generalized to international cat travel.

Notes

Hainan checked-pet copy tells passengers to bring the pet, crate, pet transport agreement and supporting documents to the counter two hours before departure. China entry rules and any transit-country requirements still apply separately.
